The following topics will be covered: - Regulation of marketing approval or registration of medicines.
- The impact of intellectual property rights and their flexibilities.
- Regional and bilateral trade agreements.
- Global health ethics, and their implications for access to medicines policy. The impact of these regimes on human rights, in particular, the right of access to health care.
- Innovations in research & development in medicines and their impact on neglected diseases.
- Case studies will focus on the dangers to access of introducing anti-counterfeiting legislation, and opportunities for using competition policy and law to enhance access.
Duration:
The course will run from 5 November – 16 November 2012 from 08:00 – 16:00 at the Howard College Campus, UKZN, Durban, South Africa.
Certification:
The Certificate in Intellectual Property and Access to Medicines is a UKZN qualification certified by SAQA.
